The League One ace has been in outstanding form for the Lions this season and has attracted interest from Ronald Koeman, with the Dutchman sending scouts to keep tabs on the former Tottenham youngster.
According to the Express, Southampton are likely to continue their monitoring of Archer and could make a move for the 22-year-old at the end of the campaign
Archer could jump at the possibility of a return to the Premier League, having failed to make the grade at White Hart Lane before joining Wycombe in 2012.
Koeman has England international Fraser Forster on the sidelines with a serious knee injury which will keep him out until next year. Despite the temporary signing of Maarten Stekelenburg, the latter will return to his parent club Fulham at the end of the season, freeing up a space in the squad.
Archer has represented Scotland Under-21s on 14 occasions
